Terms of Service

CommandIt is built and distributed by Chris Cox (sole proprietor) operating as CommandIt. There is no company entity behind it. In these terms, "I", "me", "my", and "CommandIt" refer to Chris Cox as the seller of record; "you" refers to the person installing or using CommandIt.

Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using CommandIt ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

License

I grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use CommandIt for personal or commercial purposes on macOS devices you own or control. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this limitation.

Free and Plus Tiers

CommandIt offers a Free tier with the core functionality and a Plus tier with additional features (iCloud sync, cloud AI, multi-snippet composition, the CLI, the full MCP write toolset, and more). Plus subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe, our payment processor. Chris Cox is the seller of record; Stripe Tax collects applicable sales tax and VAT at checkout. You may cancel at any time from the Stripe Billing Portal; access continues through the end of your billing period and then reverts to the Free tier. Your local data is never deleted as part of a downgrade.

Refunds — 14-day money-back guarantee

If you're not happy with CommandIt Plus, email chris@commandit.ai within 14 days of your first paid charge and I'll issue a full refund through Stripe (typically processed within 5–10 business days). After the refund is issued, your Plus features are downgraded to the Free tier at the end of a short grace window; your local data is preserved indefinitely. The 7-day free trial is independent from this guarantee — if you cancel during the trial, you are never charged in the first place.

Your Content

You retain full ownership of all snippets, templates, arguments, and other content you create in CommandIt. I claim no rights to your content. Your data is stored locally on your device and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your personal iCloud account — not on any server I operate.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to circumvent license restrictions or subscription gating
  • Redistribute, sublicense, resell, or rebrand the App
  • Use the App to store or distribute malicious code

Third-Party Services

CommandIt integrates with third-party services including Apple iCloud, AI providers (when you supply your own API keys), and Stripe (for payment processing). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. I am not responsible for third-party service availability, pricing, or data handling.

Disclaimer of Warranties

CommandIt is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. I do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Chris Cox be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of profits, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, my total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid me for CommandIt in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Chris Cox harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the App or your violation of these terms.

Changes

I may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or this website. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
